Newcomer Play Program & Parenting Group
Welcoming and integrating newcomers to Lethbridge involves more than just LFS—it takes our whole community. Our friends at Family Centre in Lethbridge have provided space for newcomer children to participate in a Play Program, while newcomer parents can attend the Parenting Program.
Mirna’s Clients
In fall of 2023, a family of 12 arrived in Lethbridge. Their journey was fraught with challenges. But Mirna, LFS Settlement Practitioner, dedicated herself to the family’s successful settlement and integration.

In August of 2021, Yermis Santollo migrated from Venezuela to Trinidad and Tobago by boat, as he and his family were struggling in a cramped, multi-generational home, and there were better work opportunities in Trinidad.
Noor and Gregory, Immigrant Services Settlement Practitioners
Noor has been granted Permanent Residency, and Gregory received his Canadian citizenship! Both work to support newcomers with employment, schooling, housing, doctor’s appointments, and everything in between.

Justine, through our RISE program, has developed employment skills by working at Color Me Mine. Justine has learned time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Mukeshimana Family
The Mukeshimana family fled to Rwanda as refugees in 1996, staying in the camp for 26 years. In 2022, they were finally granted refugee status by the Government of Canada.
Faith, RISE Participant
Faith is a participant in the LFS DaCapo Disability Services Reaching Independence through Skills & Employment program, a program for adults with developmental disabilities.
Marina and Muntaaz, Home Services
Marina, a client of LFS Home Services for over five years, receives dedicated care from Muntaaz, her health care aide, who not only tends to her medical needs but also provides a compassionate presence during challenging moments.

After a seven-year wait in April 2022, Mihidin and Salma arrived in Lethbridge supported by LFS.
