Noor and Gregory, Immigrant Services Settlement Practitioners

This year's Welcoming Week brings great news for our Immigrant Services team—we're happy to share that Noor was granted Permanent Residency, and Gregory received his Canadian citizenship!

Noor and Gregory are two of our talented Settlement Practitioners who support newcomers with employment, schooling, housing, doctor's appointments, and everything in between. At LFS, it's always made sense to have folks on our team who understand firsthand the newcomer experience.

Noor has been working to become a Permanent Resident for nine years! She excels at assisting clients with enhanced life skills and tools to help them thrive. Noor explains, "I first arrived in Canada with my spouse in 2014. Each year, our connection to this land deepened. Our application for Permanent Residency was taking a long time, and our legal status was nearing its expiration. I reassured myself that we would be okay even if we had to leave Canada, the place we had called home for the past nine years. However, the overwhelming relief, sense of belonging, and happiness I felt when we received Permanent Residency made me realize that this place was more home than I ever realized. I feel truly blessed to work in Immigrant Services, knowing that I am assisting newcomers with extra resources and support that I wish I had as a newcomer—it feels like a full circle."

Gregory can speak an impressive number of languages, and we greatly appreciate his skill and compassion in communicating with clients from all corners of the globe. "Canada has been a part of my life for a long time, but receiving citizenship is different. It’s special to be able to call this place home, and I feel a sense of responsibility to contribute as best I can. I feel blessed to work with newcomers and enjoy watching how people who come as outsiders become integrated into society—that never gets old."

Congrats to both! We're glad you're here.
