Justine, RISE Participant

At LFS, we're investing in the lives of persons with disabilities to reach their full potential.

“Working at Color Me Mine has been a great learning experience. I'm learning more customer service skills, and I like making sure people have a positive experience when they come here."

Our RISE program expands access to the world of work for participants like Justine, by including and investing in adults with disabilities, their families, and local businesses. Participants learn employment skills in an environment that openly identifies and addresses barriers with a solution-focused mindset.

Work-integrated learning opportunities are tailored to each participant, as the idea of meaningful work looks a bit different for every person. Our program supports participants to explore a path they may have never considered. For Justine, she can get involved at a local business and learn new skills at the same time.

Devin, manager at Color Me Mine Lethbridge says, "Justine helps a great deal, especially when we're busy and the tables are full. She cleans the tables and keeps all the brushes, dishes, and supplies clean and organized." Thank you to Color Me Mine Lethbridge and other RISE businesses for providing valuable opportunities to our participants.

Justine explains, "The work experience opportunities I've had while in the RISE program haven't just improved my work skills, I've also learned better time management, communication, and problem-solving. I use city transit to get to and from work, so I learn new bus routes, which builds my confidence to get where I need to go.”
