Muhidin and Salma

Muhidin and Salma first met in a refugee camp in Kenya after both fled turmoil in Somalia. All their children were born in the refugee camp amidst tens of thousands of other refugees.

It took over seven years for the family's application to move to Canada to be approved. Eventually, they found their way to Lethbridge in April of 2022 and became part of our community. The family loves Lethbridge and is thankful for the support provided to them by LFS.

Muhidin tells us, "I didn't want to just be an immigrant—I wanted to be a Canadian. This is our home now. We will build new roots."
