Snoezelen Multi-Sensory Room for Clients with Disabilities

Multi-Sensory Environments (MSEs) can provide a space where a variety of interventions can be tailored to meet a need (or needs) quickly and easily, focused on using sensory equipment to calm, soothe, or stimulate.

“Our Multi-Sensory room is a pivotal component in helping our individuals with disabilities find comfort, develop coping skills, regulate their brain’s response to stimuli, and improve their sensory processing skills.”

—Dianne Kotkas, Director of DaCapo Disability Services

The LFS Snoezelen Multi-Sensory Environment is a relaxing space for our DaCapo Disability Services clients that helps reduce agitation and anxiety, engages and delights the user, and encourages communication, through the use of gentle light, soothing sound, smells, and textures.

After ten years of constant use every day, our Snoezelen Room needs a major physical and technology upgrade!

We want many of the elements in the room tied together to a central panel. A sunshine theme will turn all the lighting yellow while an underwater theme makes everything blue. Every piece of equipment should turn on and off individually so that if someone is sensitive to sound, the speakers can be muted or completely turned off. Every piece of furniture, flooring, and sensory equipment will be replaced.
