Children’s Play Therapy Room
What is Play Therapy?
Play Therapy is a mental health intervention that utilizes the power of play through creativity to explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.
Play is a child’s natural way to express themselves. The therapist supports the child through play so that they can resolve psychosocial challenges and achieve optimal growth and development. Play Therapy is a skilled, therapeutic intervention.
Through the process of play therapy, creating art, and working with an art therapist within a supportive, therapeutic relationship, a patient can:
Explore their feelings
Process emotional conflicts
Build self-awareness and increase self-esteem
Reduce stress and anxiety
Use metaphor and symbolism to express themselves
Make choices to gain a sense of control
