Generous Donation to Cell Phones for Safety Campaign
Lethbridge—Tracy Rocca, Community Domestic Violence Response Lead with Lethbridge Family Services, has been working with community partners since November 2022 to collect donations of phones, tablets, and chargers to distribute to organizations that support survivors of domestic and family violence across Southwestern Alberta. Today, the Domestic Violence Action Team's (DVAT) Cell Phones for Safety campaign has received a significant donation of 106 cell phones from a generous community partner. This is an exciting example of corporate social responsibility and demonstrates ethical technology recycling practices.
The 106 smartphones were reset, sanitized, and bundled with chargers prior to being donated by a generous community partner.
Tracy Rocca shares, “This generous donation will allow the Cell Phones for Safety campaign to meet the growing demand for devices and ensure that more survivors of abuse and violence can access the support and resources they need. This donation highlights the importance of collaborative efforts to provide a coordinated response to domestic and family violence.”
Donating your unused phone can provide a valuable resource for victims fleeing domestic violence and faced with a desperate situation. The Domestic Action Violence Team (DVAT) is collecting cell phones, chargers, sim cards, and tablets, to be donated to organizations working to prevent domestic violence. Community partners have set up drop locations and welcome any donations which will be distributed to organizations in need.

Please ensure phones are wiped of personal data and set to factory settings. If unable to do so or chargers are not readily available, phones will be reset to factory settings prior to distribution.
