Summer Events and Volunteer Opportunities at LFS

Join us for Whoop-Up Days in August!

It’s going to be a busy summer at LFS! Keep scrolling for summer news and opportunities.

June is an important month to bring awareness to the diversity of our community, and there is a lot to celebrate! We hope you’ll chat with us at our booths at National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21st, and Pride on June 22nd. Come find us at both events in Galt Gardens.

Did you notice we have a new website? It’s the same old URL, but it looks all shiny and new—be sure to look around!

Lethbridge & District Exhibition 50/50 Lottery

Want to score a free ticket to Whoop-Up Days in August? We’re the official community partner for the 2024 Lethbridge and District Exhibition 50/50 Lottery! Signing up for a volunteer shift during Whoop-Up Days will get you free entry for the day of your shift. There’s no cash to handle—just hold a tablet, chat with folks, help them buy tickets electronically, and brag about the amazing work LFS does in our community!

Plus, volunteers can buy tickets! Every ticket purchased this summer at Saturday Farmers Markets and Whoop-Up Days will support LFS initiatives helping people in our community.

Indigenous Peoples Day

June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day! It’s a day to celebrate the history, culture, and diversity of Indigenous people.

Lethbridge Family Services operates on Treaty 7 Territory and in the Foothills District of the Métis Nation of Alberta. We understand that we live, work, and play on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy, including the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani First Nations. LFS honours the Niitsítapi as both the traditional and current Land Keepers of this area.

There are important events happening locally on June 21 courtesy of the Galt Museum | Akaisamitohkanao'pa, Fort Whoop-Up, and Reconciliation Lethbridge! You’ll find the LFS outreach team at the event in Galt Gardens from 12 pm to 7 pm. See images below for details!

Pride in the Park

We’ll be set up at Pride in the Park again this year, on June 22! Be sure to come say hi, and check out other events happening this month at www.lethbridgepride.com/events.

#LethbridgeFamilyStories

In our latest entry of #LethbridgeFamilyStories, we talked to Charity, a participant in our RISE program (Reaching Independence through Skills and Employment), about how she’s excelling in her work-integrated-learning experience at Wear 'M' Out Inc.! Click here to view the full story on Facebook.
