Community Domestic Violence Response Lead

The Community Domestic Response Lead (CDVRL) at Lethbridge Family Services identifies successes, challenges, and themes in our community that will support families that are experiencing domestic violence. Through collaboration with local and provincial partners, using a primary prevention approach, the CDVRL supports initiatives, strategies, and policies that help change social norms and behaviours that reinforce and support violence.

This role supports the great work being done in Southern Alberta so families affected by domestic abuse can receive much-needed care while providing protective supports and influence to our community. Such valuable work is seen through the collaborative efforts of many stakeholders including the Provincial Domestic and Sexual Violence Impact Initiative (IMPACT), the local Sexual Violence Action Committee (SVAC), and the local Domestic Violence Action Team (DVAT).

Professional training and workshops are available upon request. Training can be customized in terms of intended audience and outcomes. Areas of focus include Dimensions of Domestic Violence, Patterns of reoccurring violence, Interventions: recognizing and responding, Protection Orders, Supports and Referrals, and Clare’s Law. There is an additional presentation series focusing on Children and Youth Exposed to Domestic Violence. This series includes exposure, impacts, patterns of adjustment, attachment, trauma, lethal risk, resources, referrals, and protective factors.
