Backpacks for Safety Project

Each ‘Backpack for Safety’ will be provided to adults (and their children) forced to leave their home as a result of domestic violence. A backpack containing high quality products underscores our understanding of the importance of feeling comforted and worthy in a crisis. We provide two variations: ‘Parent and Child’ and ‘Single Adult’.

Fundraising Goal: $10,000.

Who will we help? 50 parents and their children and/or single adults.

Cost of each backpack with contents: $200.

What does each backpack include?

1 large backpack: $65
1 family hygiene kit: $65
1-2 blankets: $20
1 stuffie or 1 pillow: $5
coloring books/markers or journal/pen: $11
crafts or toys or game: $20
snacks: $14

Each hygiene kit contains:

shampoo and conditioner
deodorant
2-4 tooth brushes
tooth paste
dental floss
lip balm
nail clippers
nail file
1 box of tissue
hair brush
2-4 pairs of Socks
feminine hygiene
breath mints
bar soap
body wash
bandages
hand sanitizer
body lotion
1-2 bath towels
1-2 face cloths
