Shoes for Kids YQL Foundation Celebrates its Second Year of Giving New Shoes to Kids in Need

Lethbridge, Alberta – August 8, 2022

As kids begin a new school year, they typically look forward to new teachers, classmates, clothes and supplies. While each year may look a little different one thing remains the same, children need properly fitting shoes to help start their school year off right.

That’s why Shoes for Kids YQL Foundation is proud to begin a new partnership with Lethbridge Family Services to provide brand-new and well-fitting sneakers to kids in need in our community. The big shoe drive is happening in late August:

Shoe Drive – August 27, 2022

Time: 10:00 am to noon
Where: Enmax Centre, parking lot (2510 Scenic Dr. South)

Want to donate earlier? Bring new shoes to Copy Express, Freddy’s Paint, and Lethbridge Police Service Station. Cash donations can be made at any RBC branch in Lethbridge.

“Shoes for Kids YQL Foundation believes every child deserves to go back to school with a brand-new pair of runners. Last year we were able to provide 458 pairs of runners to children and youth in southwest Alberta and surrounding Indigenous communities. This year we are pleased to be working with Lethbridge Family Services to reach and provide new runners to children and youth in our area.

Our experience has shown that new shoes allow children to go to school with dignity and joy preparing them to learn, play and thrive. New shoes can change a child’s life. Attendance, self-esteem and behaviour will improve, physical activity increases, and smiles return.”
Monica Cove, Shoes for Kids YQL Foundation, Board President “For children to reach their full potential, they need to feel good about themselves.
