Tymko Family Gift to target Mental Health & Wellness for Children and Youth

Lethbridge, AB. After two years of the pandemic, we are still experiencing an unprecedented amount of change and uncertainty, leaving many people feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and fatigued. Taking care of our mental well-being is more important than ever before, and celebrating this donation is an excellent opportunity to highlight mental well-being and continue the conversation well into the future.

To address the need in areas of mental health and wellness for children and youth, Lethbridge Family Services is honoured to announce a major gift from the Tymko Family Donor advised fund At the Community Foundation of Lethbridge & Southwestern Alberta.

“Kim and I are committed to supporting Lethbridge Family Services, counselling services, for the excellent work they do to improve mental health for our children and youth, every single day. As parents, we know it’s an intricate balance to keep kids safe and mentally healthy while normalizing conversations about mental health to reduce stigma. It’s so important to us, to do as much as possible to support the mental health of children and youth in Lethbridge and area, helping minimize possible long-term consequences of a very long pandemic.

Now and in the future, we are actively listening, every day”. Trina Tymko, Donor “We have seen an increase in calls to access counselling due to complex mental health issues. This January, it hasn’t subsided. Already the volume of calls are unprecedented”, says Lisa Lewis, Director of Counselling, Outreach & Education at LFS. “This gift will allow us increased capacity to deliver focused services for our children and youth”.

Founded in 1910, Lethbridge Family Services is a community-building institution with a vision to help build a connected and inclusive community where people thrive. We offer highly accredited programs and services for over 8,000 children, youth, and adults annually in our four Service Departments: a) Counselling, Outreach & Education b) Immigrant Services c) Home Services and d) DaCapo Disability Services.
